Dropping Out

I feel almost like a failure, dropping out of the adoption process. But, we have waited and now are told that Kazakhstan is impossible. We could move our Dossier to another country, which I have done before but I just don't want to at this moment. So, we are no longer going to pursue this road. I think we have one more option which we will find out more the end of April. So, keep us in your prayers!

I just found your blog and am wondering why you where told Kazakhstan is not an option and who your agency is? I adopted from Kaz 20 months ago and have seen a lot of adoptions completed in the last 8 months so was just wondering what happened? Was your agency not Hague Accredited? Sorry I'm just always so sad to see people give up on their dreams. Especially when I know they can happen.

I am so sorry to read this... I had high hopes that you all would complete your adoption. I hope that the other course will work out for you!

We also ended our CHI Kaz journey but began with another agency and are on our way to bringing our little guy home. I used to live in Bossier City and my sister lives in Benton so we have been following along. If you decide you would still like to adopt from Kaz with a different agency, I would be happy to talk with you. We have also adopted from China special needs with FTIA. Hang in there! You are in our prayers. Jacqueline

We did not try to get the bulk of our money back because after all the lies we figured why would they do something right by us in that, plus I reread the contract we had to sign which stated how to deal with greivances and it was very entailed. We DID request the money back that we paid for post placement reports as those services had not been rendered, yep all $800 of it. We did get that back without a hitch. We didn't think it was very good of them to not voluntarily refund some of our fees since it was they that didn't do their job and nothing that we did. You mentioned problems with Kaz being why they stated you couldn't get your money back, but when you started the program they were making promises on how stable the process was, at least that was what it was like when we started. So that may be a loop hole for you there. We truly understand where you are. We are making payments on money that we used to help fund the costs of the adoption planning on using the tax credit to pay it off, unfortunately no adoption, no tax credit. I am so sorry that this has happened to you now as well...

So sorry to hear about this but it was CHI that was the problem. The problems with their agency - their willingness to keep signing up people to this program when they knew they already had too many people waiting in line already - the issues they had in other countries (Russia) - etc. Unbelievable how unethical an agency can be and then pawn off the problems as issues with the country. Agencies that maintained their good working relationships in Kaz are still doing adoptions...CHI did a lot of things wrong and therefore made it impossible for THEM and their clients to complete adoptions in Kaz. That is the truth. You unfort got to pay for their mistakes. LMI, Adoption Ark and a few more small agencies are still handling adoptions in Kaz. If you get your energy back up at some point and still want to pursue this go with one of those agencies.

I also had an incomplete Kaz adoption with CHI and we are not failures. It was CHI that failed us.
I also did not get any refund from them and was told it wasn't possible when I inquired. It just seems wrong.
I have now switched countries and agencies--no process is quick but I am much happier with my new agency.
Best of luck in whatever you decide.
