Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great Memorial Weekend this year! One of my great friends traveled all the way from Germany to visit! Natascha got married last August and she and Tobias used this trip as their semi-Honeymoon. They flew into Miami and spent a few days there, drove up to Orlando to check out Disney, then came across to the big state of Louisiana!
And, since there is not much to do where I live, I had them come to my parents' to enjoy some fun in the sun!
My dad built Turner a slide off the dock this year for him:

Tobias got out in the water to fight Turner with swords! Tobias is a great babysitter!!

We couldn't let Germans come over without getting them some Crawfish to eat!
That 5lbs did not last long
But, we did have to end their trip with a trip to Superior for margarittas. And for that we invited the Arnolds, of course!

Turner's Pre-K Graduation

Well, it had to come to an end. My little baby boy is growing up. Turner graduated from Pre-Kindergarten and 5 years of being at the Highland Center. Its hard to believe how fast time goes by and they go from 1 month to 5 years in a matter of minutes.

He is walking down the aisle to the graduation march
Each of the kids had a part to say about what they learned in school this year

And, they walked back out as all the parents and siblings blew bubbles

Its not a celebration if you don't have cake! And, these kids couldn't wait to get their hands into it!

What is he wearing?

My son does not have much fashion sense. I had the sprinklers on and he wanted to go play in them so I told him to put on some play clothes. He got his swim trunks and shirt on. But then he added his power ranger gloves and my umbrella to the mix. This is just a picture I can humilate him with when he gets a bit older!

Easter 2010

For Easter this year we got invited back to the Annual Smith Family Easter Egg Hunt. The Smiths are from my hometown of Bastrop.
I loaded up Turner on Good Friday and we met up with Erin, Morgan and Patrick for the day.
He is so ready

And they're off! Morgan scouring through her treasures

Turner opening each egg very slowly Patrick enjoying those beautiful cupcakes.
The Smiths have a merry-go-round in their yard and all the kids were spinning so fast. I was hoping Turner didn't get sick after eatting tons of candy!
The next day mom's church had their annual Easter Egg Hunt.
He already has his eye on a prize!Aunt Linda came up to have some fun with us. She even helped Turner get the eggs that were hard for him to reach.
Aww, cool Egg!

Easter morning the Easter Bunny brought Turner another basket of goodies.

Turner got a few books, markers, spiderman flip-flops, stickers, and socks
And, then he had to hunt more Easter Eggs (which had money in them!)

Soccer

Turner played Soccer this past Spring with a much higher success rate than before. We had no crying, whining, or pouting this time! And, he was actually really good!

We made sure Turner and Anden were on the same team.

He got right out there and played like a pro

Snow Skiing at Angel Fire

Well, I am just 4 months behind on my blogging with lots of catching up to do!

This was our 'every other year' to go snow skiing because of Wes' accounting job. So, February 6th we packed up my parents' car and headed to Angel Fire, New Mexico. This is one of our favorite places to vacation because it is a small mountain, its usually not very crowded, and its affordable! And, this year we were extremely excited because Turner would be skiing for the first time.

We drove all day that Saturday from 5am till about 9pm that night to get to Angel Fire. We were going to cut the drive in half but the weather report said to expect a good snow fall that might freeze up the roads and then we would have been stuck so we drove straight through. We got a condo for the first night which was horrible. It was very outdated but it had to do cause everything was booked up and we couldn't stay in our condo until it was available on Sunday. The first night was not fun! Turner threw up all night- I think because of altitude sickness and Wes was congested and not feeling well.

But, we awoke to a beautiful day with a light snow fall. Turner absolutely loved the snow! The snow fall did increase as the day progressed. This is the condos we stayed in for the week! Ours was a 2 bed/2.5 bath 2 story condo with lots of room! We got settled in our room just in time to watch the SuperBowl which featured the Louisiana Saints (who won!).

We set out Monday morning to drop Turner off at his first day of Ski School and then we headed out to enjoy the fresh powder. Now, I don't have pictures of what entailed after Dad and I dropped Turner off. We got the SUV stuck on the road trying to get back to the condo because the roads were iced and Dad had taken the chains off the tires. So, we got a late start.

Mom and Dad. Mom wanted to make sure I got a picture of her with this ski outfit on because it coordinated beautifully with her skiis!

The end of our first day, Turner got to ride the chair lift to ski back to our condo. He was not ready to come inside!!

So, we let him ski for a few more minutes on the bunny slope.

One of many falls he took! But, he did great!!

Worn out and trying to find some cartoons on the tv

Turner's end of his second day. Riding the chair lift with Papa

He posed while skiing so I could get some good shots!

Then, he had to climb the gigantic pile of snow and ice the Snow Plow trucks push at the end of the roads. This one is near our condo.

On Thursday we took Turner out with us on the slopes. We each took a corner while he skied between us so he wouldn't fall off the edge of the mountain.

Turner did great but I was a pile of nerves!

We would break after a couple of hours skiing every morning to enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and to let our feet and hands warm back up. Turner especially enjoyed his because they topped it off with whip cream.

Oops, Papa skiied into some very thick snow and our little trick skiis won't go through that so he fell down!

The last day Turner was very tired and decided he wanted to sled instead of ski. So, Wes and I took a break also and let Turner have some fun.

There was a sled in our condo so Turner would climb up this steep hill and slide down. I just watched, laughed, and took pictures!

At lunch, Mimi and Papa joined in the fun. Unfortunately, with Mimi and Turner riding on the sled together, the sled broke in half.

Then after lunch, we took Turner tubing. That was more tiring to me than skiing cause its a lot of walking and pulling your own tube.

They did have a conveyer belt to bring you back to the top. But, you couldn't sit down on your tube while riding it. And, after the tubing, we headed in to pack up our stuff for an early departure that Saturday morning. We drove for a good 15 hours and finally we were home sweet home! Although, if it were up to Turner, we would still be snow skiing!!
